Mind-Body Healing Through the Arts hosted by the Creative Arts and Health Certification Program at The New School ( http://www.newschool.edu/public-engag...). The featured speaker is Meg Chang, a board-certified dance/movement therapist who performs with Intermedia artist Elaine Summers. Her scholarly focus is on developing multicultural and diversity competencies in the creative arts therapies. She currently teaches in New York and at the Somatic Psychology Program of the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco.

Maria "Mara" Rivera, is a native of Puerto Rico,and is a board-certified and licensed dance/movement therapist in private practice with adults, a professional dancer and performer, and a researcher in the healing aspects of Afro-Caribbean dance and its implications for western dance/movement therapy practices.

Creative arts therapy is rapidly gaining recognition as an essential part of health care in our society. By tapping into deeply expressive aspects of body, mind, and spirit through such modalities as music, sound, imagery, role, and movement, creative art therapists facilitate self-actualization and healing within the therapeutic relationship. Prominent practitioners discuss principles and practice in this series of lecture/demonstrations.
